About the circuit
Silverstone sits on the border of Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire, on a former RAF bomber airfield. It held the first round of the Formula One World Championship in 1950 and is the home of the British Grand Prix.
Driving a lap
Silverstone National is 2.63 km (1.64 miles) a lap in Apex Drawn, with 4 corners: 3 rights and 1 left.
Turn 1 is a medium-speed right-hander.
The tightest corner is Turn 2, a right-hand medium-speed corner: brake in a straight line before it, and get the car turned early so you can be back on the throttle as soon as possible.
The longest straight runs from Turn 2 to Turn 3, so the exit of Turn 2 matters more than its entry: a good exit carries all the way down it.
The lap rises and falls gently - enough to feel the car go light over the crests.

Free to race
Silverstone National is one of the free real circuits: open Apex Drawn, go to Play → Real circuits and pick it - no account needed.
Each car keeps its own best lap on every circuit, so Silverstone National has a separate leaderboard for the GT, the Formula car, the kart and the hatchback. Start in the GT, which forgives a mistake; the Formula car is quicker everywhere but punishes a missed apex.
Signed in, you can also export it as a track for BeamNG.drive or Assetto Corsa, with its hills, kerbs and barriers.
