Playing
Is Apex Drawn free?
Yes. Apex Drawn is a free racing game that runs in your web browser. There is nothing to download or install, and you don't need an account to draw a track and race it. Some extras, like premium Apex Pass rewards and more exports, can be bought, but everything you need to play is free.
Do I need to download anything?
No. It runs in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on computers, phones and tablets. It needs WebGL, which every modern browser has.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes, on Android and iPhone, with on-screen controls. Hold the phone sideways. You can add it to your home screen to play full screen.
Can I use a controller?
Yes - Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo controllers all work, on a computer or a phone. See the controls.
The game is slow or jerky. What can I do?
Close other tabs and apps, plug a laptop in (many slow down on battery), and make sure your browser is up to date. On older phones, smaller and simpler circuits run more smoothly.
There's no sound.
Press M, or check the sound setting in the pause menu. On an iPhone or iPad, tap the screen once after the game loads - browsers only start sound after a tap - and check the volume.
Tracks
How do I make my own racetrack?
Draw a closed loop on the board with your mouse or finger. When the loop closes it becomes a 3D circuit and you can drive it straight away. Sliders set the width, the hills and how smooth the corners are, and you can bank individual corners. How to play has tips on drawing a good circuit.
Can I save my circuits?
Yes - sign in with a free account and your circuits are saved, with their hills, layout and scenery, so you can race them on any device.
Are these real circuits?
Apex Drawn has a library of real British race and kart circuits, traced from their real layouts with their real hills. Brands Hatch Indy, Cadwell Park, Silverstone National and Buckmore Park are free to everyone; the rest are coming soon.
Racing
Can I play with friends online?
Yes. Host a party and share the four-letter code. Everyone who joins races on your circuit, sees each other live on track and appears on a live leaderboard. Up to eight players share a party.
Are lap times saved?
Every circuit has its own leaderboard of fastest laps for each car. Two people who draw the same layout race for the same record.
What is the daily time trial?
One circuit a day, the same for everyone in the world, in the same car. Set your best lap before the day ends to see where you rank. The top ten each day win prizes.
What cars can I drive?
A GT race car, a Formula single-seater, a racing kart and a small hatchback, with more to unlock through the Apex Pass. Each handles differently and keeps its own best lap on every circuit.
How are the leaderboards kept fair?
Every car is the same for everyone, and laps are checked by our servers before they count for rewards and the daily time trial. Changing the game to go faster is against the Terms of Use.
Accounts and purchases
Do I need an account?
No, not to play. A free account lets you save circuits, keep your lap times and progress across devices, and export tracks. You must be 13 or over to make one.
What are Apex Coins and the Apex Pass?
The Apex Pass is a season of rewards - cars, colours and Apex Coins - that you unlock by driving. Apex Coins are the game's own currency, spent on things in the shop and the pass. They have no value outside Apex Drawn.
How do I delete my account?
Send us a message through the contact page from the email address on your account, and we'll delete it and the data that goes with it. See the Privacy Policy for what we keep and why.
Exporting
Can I drive my track in Assetto Corsa or BeamNG.drive?
Yes. Press Export on the drawing board, pick BeamNG.drive or Assetto Corsa, and your circuit downloads as a track for that game, with its hills, kerbs, barriers and scenery. Your first four exports are free, for either game. Exporting needs a free account and a laptop or PC.
Where do I put the exported file?
For BeamNG.drive, put the zip in your BeamNG mods folder - do this while the game is closed. For Assetto Corsa, unzip it into the
game's content/tracks folder. The track then appears in the game's track list.
