About the circuit
Thruxton is in Hampshire, built round a former wartime airfield. It is known as the fastest circuit in the UK, with long, high-speed sweeps.
Driving a lap
Thruxton Nat is 0.80 km (0.50 miles) a lap in Apex Drawn, with 9 corners: 3 rights and 6 lefts. That makes it a lap that leans on the left-handers - one side of your tyres does most of the work.
Turn 1 is a hairpin left-hander - a heavy braking zone, and on the first lap the place most races are won and lost.
The tightest corner is Turn 3, a left-hand hairpin: brake in a straight line before it, and get the car turned early so you can be back on the throttle as soon as possible.
It is almost flat, so braking points stay the same all the way round.
